Would you like to support a fun, diverse group of people and make a real difference in their lives?

Avens Supported Living Northamptonshire is currently searching for caring, committed and professional people to join our team of support workers. We have both part-time and full-time contracts available. Shift patterns include weekdays (10:00-15:00), Core Hours (15:00-22:00, 07:30-10:00), alternate weekends and sleep-ins. Whether you are looking to slowly ease yourself into care work or perhaps just wanting to dive right in, Avens offers contract flexibility that meets the needs of the customers, staff and business.

Position(s) available: Support Worker

Location: Raunds

Contract(s) available: Full time, Part-time (flexible)

Earnings:  National Minimum Wage or Living Wage + extra depending on experience and qualifications. Sleep-ins paid at NLW a night.

About the Applicant:

We are looking for support workers who can demonstrate compassion and empathy in their approach to caring, either through previous roles in Social Care or in other roles. We pride ourselves in delivering person-centred Care and support; therefore if you have the right values for our organisation, you will be supported by a program of continuous training and development.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided, along with an induction process which includes various interviews and trial shifts. This gives those who are new to care a chance to get a feel for what the role entails while also supporting more experienced staff to learn the new set of rules and challenges that await them in their new role.

For more details, we urge all of our applicants to read our “Being a Carer” section.

About the Role:

In the supported living setting, you will be supporting between one to five adults with learning disabilities. As part of your role, you will be dealing with challenging behaviour, refocusing those we support onto better aspects in their life and supporting customers with planning activities and helping them work towards and achieve any life goals that they might have, all the while offering guidance to them which will enable them to live independently in their own home. Ultimately you are there to ensure that anyone you care for is happy, healthy, secure and loving life.

Avens will be able to provide you with training from our award-winning in-house training department including:

  • Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Awareness
  • Medication Administration and Awareness Training
  • Person-Centred Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI)
  • Autism Awareness
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Equality and Diversity Training

and many more training topics that will help you understand and develop in your role.

We also enrol our staff on the Care Certificate and Level 2 or 3 in the Diploma for Health and Social Care, in line with their job role.
