Progressing her career and undertaking professional qualifications with Avens, Michelle was promoted to deputy in 2006 and became registered manager in 2016.

The home has a well-established care team which includes six team leaders and in excess of thirty care staff. The average length of service within the team is in excess of eight years and all staff undertake regular training form our in-house City & Guilds accredited training department, Tailored Training, and are working towards a qualification in Health and Social Care. The care team is supported by the admin team, auxiliary staff and maintenance staff.

What We Do

Provided within our home is specialised care for Adults under 65 years of age with Learning or Physical Disabilities.

We aim to maximise independence with care and support which is planned to meet assessed needs. The level of support provided to individuals is decided following a care needs assessment and consultation with an individual’s circle of support.

Person Centred Planning

We take great pride that all service users are seen and treated as individuals and within Avens, we have embraced the ‘Person Centred Planning’ approach to people’s care. Individuals, their families, friends and advocates are always asked the following question ‘What’s important for you?’ and ‘what is important to you?’

We are proud to work in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council, with the NHS, our local GP Surgery ‘The Cottons’, the local community and last but not least the families, friends and advocates of our service users.

Our Home

The home itself is divided into two smaller, contained living areas. The ‘Front Flat’ is the older part of the house and is arranged over two floors. There is a relaxing lounge and an open-plan dining area. This area of the home also contains the main kitchen, which was awarded 5 Stars in its recent Environmental Health inspection, the laundry, the Team Leaders and Administration office and the Manager’s office.

The ‘Back Flat’ is a ground floor purpose built extension with seven bedrooms, adapted for those with physical disabilities. The communal dining room overlooks the gardens and the lounge has specially adapted French doors that allowing access to the garden area.

The garden is where service users and staff hold the Annual Summer Fete. The event is well supported by families and friends of all who live and work at the home and also importantly, by the local community. All the money raised goes towards shared activities for the service users.

39 Denford Road is ten miles South-East of Kettering and ten miles North-East of Wellingborough. Ringstead is a picturesque traditional Northamptonshire Village with local amenities such as a village shop, Post Office and pub. There are many outstanding areas of interest, such as the lakes, marina, dales and listed walks. The care home is situated on the quiet main road through the village.
