The Ferns receives a five star rating
Raund's newest and most luxurious care home for adults with Learning Disabilities, The Ferns, has been awarded 5 stars for its food hygiene standards.
The Ferns is the flagship home for Avens Care Solutions who specialise in providing exceptional home environments, combined with the very best in personalised care and support.
The home which received its Care Quality Commission registration last summer, after an extensive renovation and refurbishment, is celebrating after having its exemplary kitchen and food hygiene recognised on May 12th, during its first inspection.
Ratings of 'very good' for both Food hygiene and safety were received, as well as a 'very good' rating for Structural compliance. The kitchen also scored the maximum rating of "high" for Confidence and Management of the kitchen also.

Under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, developed by the Food Standards Agency businesses are inspected to ensure that their hygiene standards meet legal requirements.
The award is a nationally recognized certificate, which informs customers at a glance of the premises Food Hygiene rating. An environmental health officer from the council audits the food premises and gives it a 1 to 5 rating, 5 being the highest achievable score. The audit covers food preparation, cooking, storage and the fabric of the building.
