AXA PPP volunteer at St. Anthonys
St Anthonys, a residential care home for adults with learning and physical disabilities in Crowborough, recently welcomed volunteers from AXA PPP in Tunbridge Wells. The team offered to help out with some decorating projects in the home as part of AXA's Heart in Action community challenge.
The intrepid volunteers updated a bathroom, redecorated a bedroom, spruced-up the staff room and painted a large expanse of hallway in a vibrant pink which was chosen by the residents. The job was so big that they needed to return to the home for a second day to complete the jobs.
Katie Hook from AXA who co-ordinated the project said: "At AXA PPP our employees have the opportunity to support local community organisations, within business hours, through our volunteer programme. Suitable tasks are found through longstanding relationships with local schools and charities, but also through employee suggestions. We decided that volunteering at St. Anthony's was a fantastic opportunity for us to address specific local needs and provide us with the chance of personal development and team-building. It's our way of getting involved, making a difference and having some fun along the way!"
Manager of the home Colin Packham said: "We are incredibly grateful to have been chosen by AXA to benefit from their volunteering programme. The results of the team's hard work are fantastic, delighting residents and staff alike. We hope that they enjoyed their time with us and would welcome them back at any time."
Head office for the company is based within the residential care home in Crowborough, East Sussex from where the company's care agency which has branches across the county, is managed. Avens currently provides care and support for individuals across Sussex and in their second branch based in Northamptonshire.
