New care home recruiting
Care provider Avens are gearing up for the opening of their new care home which was acquired for them by investors last December.
Previously a 27 bed residential care home for the elderly, the property in Raunds Northamptonshire has been redeveloped in order for Avens to offer care to 14 adults with Learning Disabilities in first class surroundings.
The building which was vacant for several years has undergone three phases of extensive renovation and refurbishment and is now near completion.
By utilising the existing space differently, room has been allocated for the installation of top of the range en-suite facilities to all of the expansive property's bedrooms.
The home, formally called Kingfisher Residential Care Home will be known as The Ferns and will double Avens' provision of residential care in Northamptonshire. The Ferns will be lead by CEO Christopher Andrews who said:
"The property is nearly ready and I'm delighted with how this project has run from its beginning to its conclusion. As an organisation which is passionate about delivering excellence in care and I'm looking forward to leading the company into this new venture, which will expand the range of services we provide for local people with high dependency needs.
Julie Morrison, formally manager of Avens successful Northamptonshire supported living operation, has been appointed as the manager of The Ferns and will bring her knowledge and expertise of the care industry to assist Mr Andrews in running The Ferns, she said:
"I'm thrilled to have been appointed as manager of The Ferns and am looking forward to the challenges ahead. We've had an incredibly busy and exciting start to 2014. Although this is a significant expansion for Avens, it is important to us that we do not lose the company's caring ethos and continue to provide quality care to individuals in this region.
"To begin with, we will be providing employment and training for 25 people in Raunds and we are currently looking for staff to join the Avens team. We hope to be welcoming our first service users by the end of the summer and are actively looking to recruit now.
"We are committed to providing only the highest quality of care and exceptional staff, so we provide training and support on-site, for all staff, from our own City and Guilds registered training department.
"All staff is required to undertake training, including Common Induction Standards 2010, Diploma's in Health and Social Care at levels 2 and 3 and a range of other specialist training.
