Meet the Team

Magda Orlikowska, trainer, internal assessor and internal verifier.

Magdalena Orlikowska is Avens' NVQ assessor and trainer. She has worked at Avens for eight years and is qualified to assess and verify Diploma's in Health and Social Care up to Level 3 as well as being a Common Induction Standards 2010 assessor. She also gives training in First Aid, Fire Awareness, Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, Dementia, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Autism and First-day induction training.

Magda has in the last year completed her 'Preparing to Teach in a Lifelong Learning Sector' (PTLLS) Award and in 2011 completed her V1 (Verifier Award). Magda is currently working on her CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector).

"I really like helping staff progress and achieve qualifications that help them provide the best possible service for people with learning disabilities. It's very rewarding knowing that as an assessor I'm helping members of the team to understand their roles and enjoy their work with service users and help them on their way to becoming more independent."

Meet the Team

Emilia Howard, trainer and assessor.

Emilia Howard works for Avens as a trainer and assessor based in our East Sussex office. Originally from Slovakia, where she graduated from University with a degree in Physiotherapy.

She began working for Avens in 2009 starting as a Support Worker and then becoming Team Leader with a wide variety of responsibilities.

"I am pleased that Avens has given me the opportunity to develop my career. As a new assessor I am really looking forward to helping my candidates to achieve their Diplomas in Health and Social Care. I believe that well-trained and qualified staff can provide the best quality of care for our service users."

Darren Starmer, assessor

Since joining Avens in 2009 I have been fully supported to progress within the company. Beginning as a Support Worker and then moving on to Team Leader.

As a Team Leader the emphasis was to nurture support workers to provide the best possible care and as an Assessor the emphasis is guide candidates in the same way. Avens have always helped me develop my skills and the progression to Assessor felt like a natural step.

Meet the Team

Clair Andrews, trainer, internal assessor and internal verifier.

Clair Andrews has worked at Avens since 1996 and has a range of qualifications including: Trainer of Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Interventions (NAPPI), Full First Aid at Work trainer, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults trainer, Dementia trainer, Moving and Handling trainer, Autism trainer, and Risk Assessment trainer. Clair has a Level 4 certificate in conducting internal quality Assurance of the Assessment Process (V1 Award), NVQ Level 3 in 'Promoting Independence', Level 3 certificate in Assessing Candidates using a range of Methods and a degree in Health and Social Care and has also completed her 'Preparing to Teach in a Lifelong Learning Sector' (PTLLS) Award.

Clair's role is to support the training department in Northamptonshire by arranging and providing training to all the staff and supporting Magda and the assessors when required. To see more details on her Human Resources duties, please visit the Key Contacts page.
