Residential care

39 Denford Road, Ringstead, Northamptonshire

This home is divided into two separate areas with accommodation for six service users in each.

One area has been specially adapted for people with physical, as well as learning disabilities. It has wheelchair access, bath hoists, handrails and walk in shower rooms with fitted shower seats.

All of the 12 bedrooms are spacious and have en-suite facilities and there are several areas, including a large conservatory and a television lounge, where service users can relax on their own or interact with others. There is also a pleasant garden.

39 Denford Road is managed by Denise Lyford and her deputy is Michelle Campion. There is a high ratio of staff to service users and an emphasis on helping service users to reach their full potential.

The home is in Ringstead which is south of the A41 and west of the A45. The nearest train station is in Kettering. Find on MultiMap.

St Anthony, Church Road, Crowborough, East Sussex

St Anthony has been caring for people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour since 1994. It has become one of the South East’s best know centres for people with learning disabilities.

The 28 rooms include a mix of accommodation, including one bedroom flats. For service users who are physically disabled, there are specially adapted rooms.

When service users are not out in the community learning woodworking skills or taking part in sport or gardening, they can use a number of different rooms for relaxation as well as activities like music therapy, art and drama.

Resident in wood workshop

This is a photo of one of our residents in a workshop setting, doing a craft based activity with what appears to be his name set on a canvas/tapestry type board. To the right hand side is another of our members, with some wood working machinery to the back of the room.

Resident outside

This is a photo of one of our residents outside and holding a small wooden frame. In the background is a car park with parked cars.

We provide sheltered employment in a wood workshop where service users produce a range of items such as wooden gifts and furniture for family and friends. They can also do arts and crafts such as needlework and tapestry. Learning woodwork is extremely popular and can give people a huge confidence boost. At the same place, a beautiful farm in East Sussex, service users try archery and shooting and have regular camping sessions.

Each service user has their own care and exercise plan and they are encouraged to keep active and get involved in as many activities as possible.

Crowborough is close to Ashdown Forest which is perfect for outdoor activities. There is also good access by road and rail to Tunbridge Wells, Uckfield, Brighton and Lewes.

Vacancies

Please contact us to discuss vacancy opportunities.

Friends of St Anthony

The Friends of St Anthony is a registered charity and was started when the home opened in 1994. It is run by relatives and friends of the residents.

We raise money through various events held in conjunction with St Anthony such s open days, fairs and our popular quiz nights. Due to most of the friends and families being spread through the South East, events are limited. We also run a successful donation scheme which is supported by Gift Aid to bring in more funds.

Residents have benefited from theatre trips, sporting events and canal boat adventures. We have provided equipment for the allotment, sports and art and bought a barbeque for the summer evenings. We will update this page with news and photos to let you know how the funds are spent.

The committee is always looking for interested people to join us or from anyone with any ideas for future days out or activities Please contact any of the following.
