Support Worker

Would you like to support a fun, diverse group of people and make a real difference in their lives?

Avens Supported Living Sussex is currently searching for caring, committed and professional people to join our team of support workers in East Sussex. We have both full-time and bank contracts available. Shift patterns include weekdays (10:00-15:00), Core Hours (15:00-22:00, 07:30-10:00), some weekends and sleep-ins.

Position(s) available: Support Worker

Location: Crowborough

Contract(s) available: Full time, Bank

Salary: Starting at National Minimum Wage or Living Wage with the opportunity to earn more depending on responsibilities, experience and qualifications.

About the Applicant:

We are looking for support workers who can demonstrate compassion and empathy in their approach to caring, either through previous roles in Social Care or in other roles. We pride ourselves in delivering person-centred Care and support. If you have the right values for our organisation, you will be supported by a program of continuous training and development.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided, along with an induction process which includes various interviews and trial shifts. This gives those who are new to care a chance to get a feel for what the role entails and grow in confidence while being supported by an experienced member of staff.

About the Role:

In the supported living setting, you will be supporting between one and four adults with learning disabilities. As part of your role, you will be dealing with challenging behaviour, refocusing those behaviours, and supporting customers with planning activities and helping them achieve goals while offering guidance to enable individuals to live independently in their own homes. Ultimately you are there to ensure that anyone you care for is happy, healthy, secure and safe.

Avens will be able to provide you with training from our award-winning in-house training department including:

  • Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Awareness
  • Medication Administration and Awareness Training
  • Person-Centered Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI)
  • Autism Awareness
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Equality and Diversity Training

Plus many more training topics that will help you understand and develop in your role.

We also enrol our staff on the Care Certificate and Level 2 or 3 in the Diploma for Health and Social Care, in line with their job role.
